🎀 Early Detection of Breast Cancer

🎀 Early Detection of Breast Cancer

Early detection can help identify breast cancer at an earlier stage, when treatment options may be more effective and outcomes can be better.

How do we start?

1️⃣ Know what is normal for you
Be familiar with the normal look and feel of your breasts, and pay attention to any new changes while showering, getting dressed, or looking in the mirror.
There is no need to follow a specific day or a strict monthly self-examination routine; what matters most is knowing what is normal for you and noticing any unusual change.

2️⃣ Pay attention to unusual changes
Consult a healthcare provider if you notice any of the following:

• A new lump or thickening in the breast or underarm.
• A change in the size or shape of the breast.
• Skin changes such as dimpling, redness, or retraction.
• A new change in the nipple, including recent inversion.
• Unusual or bloody nipple discharge.

3️⃣ Do not wait for pain
Some breast cancer lumps may be painless. Therefore, do not delay seeking medical advice if you notice a lump or any unusual change, even if there is no pain.

Although many breast lumps are not cancerous, medical evaluation is the appropriate way to determine the cause.

4️⃣ Consult a healthcare provider if you notice any change
The evaluation may include reviewing your medical history, performing a clinical examination, and arranging appropriate tests when needed.

5️⃣ Ask about the screening that is right for you
Mammography is one of the most important tools for early detection among age groups for whom screening is recommended. However, the appropriate age and timing may vary depending on age, risk factors, medical history, and the screening guidelines followed in your country.

🎀 Do not ignore any unusual change.
Awareness, early consultation, and timely access to diagnosis can make a difference.

At HEART, we believe that health awareness is part of protecting women and supporting their access to the right information and appropriate care at the right time.

💚 World Mental Health Day | 10 October 2026

Let us listen to the voices of those with lived experience, for change that reaches the heart of reality.

Behind every experience of displacement, every family that has lost its sense of safety, and every child whose life has been affected by conflict, there is a human being carrying feelings, experiences, and needs that deserve to be heard with respect and dignity.

The burden becomes even greater for families who have been forced to flee more than once, leaving behind, with each displacement, another part of their sense of stability and security. One of HEART’s field teams has documented cases of families who were forced to flee three times in search of safety—a reality that reflects the profound psychological and social pressures facing Sudanese families affected by the conflict.

Repeated displacement is not simply moving from one place to another; it is an experience marked by fear, anxiety, and loss of stability, and it can leave deep psychological impacts, particularly on children, women, and the most vulnerable groups.

In Sudan, humanitarian response must go beyond providing food, shelter, and healthcare. It must also include mental health and psychosocial support, while strengthening the ability of individuals and communities to cope, recover, and restore hope.

On World Teachers’ Day – October 5

we pause to honor every teacher who carries the mission of knowledge, inspires hope, and contributes every day to building a brighter future for children and communities.

In environments affected by conflict, displacement, and crises, the role of teachers goes far beyond delivering education. They become a source of stability, support, safety, and hope for children facing extraordinary circumstances.

At HEART – Humanitarian Empowerment and Relief Team, we believe that education is not only a fundamental right, but also a powerful tool for protection, recovery, and building more resilient communities.

On this special day, we salute all teachers, especially those who continue to fulfill their mission under the most challenging circumstances.

Thank you for inspiring hope and building the future.
